LIFTING HUGE SECTION OF A ROOF IN ROME

Fagioli more often is called to perform civil activities with the use of its vast range of equipment and innovative engineering solutions.

Fagioli was proud to participate to one of the most intriguing and fascinating architectural project in Rome for the new "Centro Congressi" (meeting centre) at EUR area. The new building and structure was planned by Massimiliano Fuxas, one of the most innovative architect in Europe, who designed a structure called "Nuvola" (The cloud), a structure of steel and Teflon inside the building of 3500 square meter suspended above a surface of about 10.000 sqm , which will hold a 1800 people auditorium and meeting rooms.

Fagioli was contracted to lift and install two huge sections of the roof of this new building. The first one was successfully completed by Fagioli with the use of strand jacking system. The section, weighing about 1020 ton, 62 mts long and 70 m wide, was lifted with 12 L180 strand jacks with cables long more than 30 mts.

The peculiarity of the project was that the construction is built in a very congested area which means that it was impossible to use any crawler cranes or any other lifting device. Fagioli is proprietary of one of the most extensive range in the world of strand jacking equipment and tower lift system.
